The Tragedy of Men

You wake up each day, every day, not actually considering the fact that someone awoke you, and not being thankful enough for your survival.
Women face what most men cause us to face. Most times we lose direction and do not know where to turn back to. We suffer from the men who lash out at us with words, disrespect, untruth, and their fists, directly or indirectly. We go to bed at night with tears drenching our pillows and we fail to forget when things were not the way they are now.

'For Colored Girls' is one movie I would recommend all women, both young and old to watch. It is a reflection of how we are faced with such pain and tragedies that tear us down and threaten to have us killed. We realize how strong we are when it is already late, but we eventually overcome and become who and what we ought to be. We cause pain to ourselves by depending on the strength, love, and wholeness of man which leaves me wondering if this is a curse on us who have to go through all this until we realise what we missed from the beginning.

How wrong is it to love a man and want that true and honest love in return, with respect for our beings and interests?. How wrong it is to want to be abnormal that we forget how easy normal is. How strong we can be without the pain of hurt, of want, of lost directions, and of truth. We forget what matters most to us as we are set to satisfy the needs of the people we really care about. How dare he come into our lives to destroy all what we built and cause insecurity. How dare he make us feel so vulnerable as to want to depend on him and cannot do without him.
How do we pick up the threads of an old life? How do we go on when in our heart we begin to understand that there is no going back. There are some things that time cannot mend. Some hurts that go too deep, that have taken hold. We do not run away because we are afraid. We are afraid because we are running away.‎

We are women, we are strong, we matter because we do. We forget to see it in ourselves when we lose direction. Take a step back and retrace your steps. You will get back to where you want to be eventually.
